Obituary for Stenis Alexander Lowery (Bowtie)

Stenis Alexander Lowery, affectionately known as "Bowtie," was born on August 2, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away on November 1, 2024. He was the sixth of seven children born to Louise Harris and Stenis Lowery.

As a young boy, Stenis was a vibrant spirit with a love for learning. His interests were broad, ranging from computers and engineering to cycling, poetry, and languages. He was all about hitting the gym and flexing what he worked for. He was known for his playful nature, full of mischief and boundless energy.

In his early adulthood, Stenis enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and bravely served during the Vietnam War. After sustaining medical injuries, he returned home to Chicago. He later relocated to California with his sister Jessica, whom he lovingly called "Mama," and the rest of the family. They settled in Oakland and Fresno before Stenis eventually made San Francisco his permanent home.

Stenis cherished life and found joy in spending time with family. He was a fierce domino player, known for making it a challenge for anyone to beat him. He brought laughter wherever he went, along with a hearty appetite and an uncanny talent for freestyle lyrics. Stenis was also known for his unique and memorable sayings, including the iconic "Mark my money, man! Mark my money, man!" and his enthusiastic call for "Tenderloin steaks and gravy.", as he slammed a 10 on the board!

Stenis is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Harris and Stenis Lowery; his siblings, Robert Harris, Elthena M. Lowery, Jessica B. Moore, and Nona W. Harris; and his nephews, Hajai L. Brooks, Roger A. Harris, Willie Moore Jr., and Donald Moore.

He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Johnson (Chicago, IL), Ophelia L. (Larry) Fane (Fresno, CA). His children, Stenis A. Lowery Jr., Jeremiah Lowery, and Xadia Lowery. He also leaves a legacy of love through his nephews and nieces, including Dorothea, Ronald Jr., Rosalyn, Quania, Elizabeth L. (Dave) Harvey. DeShawna, Tyrell, Shalita, LeJon, Donisha, DeAndre, Crystal, Araon and Dayton (all of Fresno, CA)., as well as a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Stenis will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his love of life, and the many unforgettable moments he shared with his family and friends.
