Susan Gail
Mccall Carrasco
June 18, 1947 – September 25, 2025
Susan Gail McCall Carrasco, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, and advocate for the underserved, passed away peacefully at her home in Fresno, CA, on September 25, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by her sister, Tracy James (56), her son Jason Brent McCall (55) of Haymarket, VA, his wife Gail McCall, and their two sons, Donovan and Austin McCall; her son Mario Tomas Carrasco (52) of Murrieta, CA, his wife Mary Carrasco, and their six children, Madison, Jack, Lucas, Mason, Soleil, and LaCroix Carrasco.
Susan was born in Sonoma, CA in June 1947 to Edward and Joan James, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brother, Michael James. Susan graduated from San Rafael High School and later attended Hartnell College, where she studied Business Administration.
Over the course of her remarkable career, Susan dedicated more than 20 years to leading a prestigious staffing firm in Washington D.C., where she not only served as the owner and chief executive recruiter but also mentored and coached her son, Jason, as well as countless other aspiring professional recruiters. She eventually returned to Fresno to care for her father and sister, though her influence continued to shape the lives of many.
Susan's greatest pride was always her family, especially her sister Tracy, her sons Jason and Tom, and her beloved grandchildren. She was deeply committed to her community, actively involved in local and regional politics, and an advocate for those in need. Her efforts inspired others to take action, leading to meaningful change and empowering new leaders throughout California communities.
Her friendships were a source of great strength, and the family is forever grateful for the love and time Susan shared with all who knew her. Whether it was offering a kind word, sharing a dose of wisdom, or good laugh, Susan had a way of brightening any room. Her infectious sense of humor and her unwavering positivity were reminders to all of us to stay hopeful, no matter the circumstances.
A woman of selflessness and dedication, Susan was always there for others, whether it was picking up the phone to offer support or lending a helping hand without hesitation. Her life's work and teachings continue to inspire all who knew her, and her legacy remains a beacon of compassion, leadership, and strength.
In honor of Susan's memory and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider planting a tree in her name or making a small donation to a cause close to your heart. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Until we meet again, rest easy, Susan. Your work here is complete, your legacy lives on, and the impact of your soul will forever inspire us all.
