July 06, 1938 – January 25, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Telvena Mary Borba Chumbley announces her passing on January 25, 2023.
Telvena was born to Joseph Emil Cardoza Borba and Telvena Mary Feruaudis Alves on July 06, 1938 in Fresno, CA. Telvena grew up in Dairyland and Chowchilla and was a class member to the Chowchilla High School Class of 1957.
In 1957 Telvena married Thomas Chumbley. They had three children, Terri, Tommy and Karen. While Thomas served in the US Air Force at Ft. Bragg, they lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After Thomas' service, the family moved back to Chowchilla and then on to Los Banos for seven years where Telvena worked as a teacher's aide for the Los Banos School Dist. They returned to Chowchilla in 1968 where Telvena continued as a teacher's aide for the Chowchilla School District, retiring in 2016. Thomas and Telvena were also owner/operators for the Standard Oil Co./Chevron from 1968-2000.
Telvena loved Chowchilla and Dairyland and was often seen attending and supporting many community events. She was full of kindness, was a jokester, loved her family and was the very definition of selflessness. Telvena loved the Lord and served him faithfully.
Telvena is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Chumbley; son Tom Chumbley Jr., Son-in-law Jeff Swilley, parents Joe and Telvena Borba, brothers Joe and Frank Borba and sisters, Evelyn Borba Robinson, Inez Borba Lovelace, and Elvera Borba Garrison.
