Vahe Simonian went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2010. He was born in Fresno on June 18, 1931, to Katchadoor and Victoria Simonian, who preceded him in death. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950, and served as a Medic in the Marine Corps for four years. After being discharged from the service, he completed his college education at Fresno State College in 1959. He went to work for the California Courier serving in all capacities of the newspaper. In March 1961 he went to work for The Fresno Bee as a salesman in the Classified Advertising Department. He was transferred to Retail Advertising, becoming a Supervisor, then to National Advertising and retired in 1993 as the National Advertising Manager. He married Barbara Katzakian on August 31, 1957. They had two sons, Darin in 1960 and Deryl in 1962. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 52 years; his son Darin and his wife Vicki of San Pedro, Ca.; his son Deryl and his wife Traci of Sylva, North Carolina; twin grandsons, Jacob and Asher Simonian; granddaughter, Amerie Rose Simonian; step-grandson, Jason Sorge and his wife Danielle; step-granddaughter, Candice Sorge; his sister, Gloria Mooradian and her husband Ara; his sister, Adrine Thomas; niece, Shawn Kalemkarian and her husband David; grandnieces, Brittany and Courtney Kalemkarian; grandnephew, Cameron Kalemkarian; godsons, Martin and Perry Mamigonian; goddaughter, Janice Mamigonian'; and cousins. A Viewing will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Friday, August 13, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Ararat Cemetary, on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Service at will be held at Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church, 3673 N.
