Joseph Darryl Munson

October 29, 1979 - August 3, 2020

Joseph Darryl Munson was the only child born to Darryl Munson and Paulette Munson Glaspie.

As a child Joseph enjoyed reading, good food, swimming, basketball, and music. As he got older, Joseph still enjoyed good food, lots of good food. Especially hamburgers, watching sports, shopping and being with his family. Joseph was called Joe, by his favorite family members. Joe was known for his quiet, delightful, and insightful personality. Joe was a joy to be around, when feeling well. Joseph would always greet you with his signature "Munson Smile!"  And a happy " Hi Mom!" And when one of his favorite tunes would come on the radio, it was an instant party! Whether we were in the car or at home. You were sure to join in with him, in a sing along. Joseph was always the life of the Party, sometimes with his own private party, going on in his own head! Joseph enjoyed walking… at the beach.

Although, Joseph struggled with his mental diagnosis, he had his ups and downs. When he was regulated, we/he would enjoy life to the fullest. With his potential, and our hopes for him to be limitless! And then there were those days that seemed to be too many to bear, when he was unregulated, and he would plateau off from his baseline. And those days were full of despair, sadness, and darkness. Those days were the hardest, those days were when we struggled as a family. When we fought as a family for Joseph when Joseph could not fight for himself!

Now when I think of your last days… that you were all alone, by yourself. Out of your mind, no glasses… and we did not know … And we could not be there for you… or with you … and you were all by yourself… "My Sweet Boy!" I hope you finally found the peace, that you so desperately tried to find here on this earth… Now, in the bosom of our Lord and Savor… Rest, now Joseph, "Our Sweet Boy!"

Joseph passed on August 3, 2020 at the age of 40, leaving us far too soon. Leaving behind to cherish his memory, his Mother and Stepfather Paulette and Jimmie Glaspie, of Hanford, CA. His Father and Mom 2, Darryl Munson and Kimberly Tapscott-Munson, of Fresno, CA. Grandmother, Deborah Moore, of Hanford, CA.  Uncle, Sean Moore, (Wife, Tammy Moore) of, Hanford, CA.  Uncle, Kenneth Moore Jr, (Deceased) (Wife, Aunt Betty Moore), of Corcoran, CA. Uncle, Craig Steven Bell Munson, (Wife, Dawn Munson) of Cape Elizabeth, ME., Cousins, Kayla Munson, of Garden City, MI. and LTJG Kayne Munson, of Charleston, SC., and Kirby Lane, (Fiancé, Sandra Arnopole) of Sacramento, CA. Joseph gained a bonus family when Darryl married Kimberly in 2010, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his three Sisters, Kare'a Dorothy Tylor, (Husband, Mario Tylor), of Fresno, CA., Pridjet Carrie Arikpo (Husband, Kebe Arikpo), of Fresno, CA. by way of Nigeria, West Africa and Briona L. Mary Tapscott, of Canby, OR. Two Niece's Sapphire Skyy & Sierra Starr Tylor, Nephew, Stephon M. DePaul Tylor. Grandparents, Patti and Dr. Donald K. Cheek of Clovis, CA. Uncle, Robert Lee Carter Jr. (Fiancé, Santanese Jones), Cousins, Trinatii, Elijah, Emmanuel, and Josiah Carter, of Jonesboro, GA.  Grandparents, Ben and Betty Tapscott, of Oakland, CA. Aunt, Bettina Sherick and Cousin, Jack Sherick of Los Angeles, CA.  Uncle, Romel DePores Tapscott of Oakland, CA. Our thoughts will be filled with loving memories. He was our beloved Son, Grandson, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend.
