Paul Emery Preston

September 25, 1959 - November 4, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Paul Preston.  After successfully beating cancer, Paul passed away on November 4, 2023, due to complications from his treatments.

Paul was born in Long Beach, California and grew up in the San Fernando Valley with his three siblings.  He graduated from Granada Hills High School, where he played football.  After high school Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an armorer.  He was honorably discharged in June of 1984 as a Lance Corporal.

Paul received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Davis in political science.  He later continued his education at Claremont Graduate University where he acquired a master's degree in politics.

Soon thereafter, Paul met the love of his life, Patricia Maldonado. Paul and Pat would later build their life together in northern California.  Pat blessed Paul with four wonderful stepchildren, Louie, Lisa, Paul, and Patrick. Years later he would gain the title of "Papi" to five lovely grandchildren, Gyssell Avila, Alexis, Brie-Ella, Sean-Daniel Maldonado, and Arthur Ramos.  Paul adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.

Paul joined the Fresno Police Department in 1986. After serving his community for 27 years, he retired as a Sergeant on September 30, 2023.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, his parents, Clayton and Elizabeth Preston and his sister Gail.

Paul will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is reunited with his wife Pat and their legacy will continue to grow.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Sunday, November 19th from 5P.M. to 7 P.M. at Yost & Webb Funeral Home Fresno, California.

Funeral Mass will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno, California on Monday, November 20th at 10 o'clock A.M.

Cemetery internment will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery, San Fernando, California.
